Hello

I have an E6300 on a Gigabyte 965P DS3 motherboard and 2 * 1gb Geil 5300.

I overclocked the system a while ago
Processor at 333 Bus speed so about 2.3Ghz
Memory at 1:1 ratio so 666MHz
PCI-E at 100

I left the voltages all to auto

All worked well, every now & then (about once every 3 weeks or so) when I turn on the pc it just keeps re-booting and reverts the settings all back to stock.

Anyone know of anything I may need to alter?

Cheers

I had until recently nearly an identical setup to you. All the same but I had Geil 6400 RAM.

Had to increase CPU to 1.35, RAM +0.3, FSB +.01, MCH +0.1 which enabled me to run an FSB of 400 = 2.8Ghz

Similar set up over here. Mine clocked to 3.15Ghz easily and now it won't overclock at all - keeps restarting and reverts back to default settings

i had an old 965 ds3p that did that, ran it lower for a time being and it seemed to bed in fine, now running the chip at 3.5 ghz in a new p45 gigabyte board.

theres a write up in the mag cant remember which one with a certian gigabyte board u have to restart pc go into bios set all to deafult then run windows for abit then shutdown wait then go into bios reset overclock.

if you keep resetting pc in windows etc bios thinks the overclock is failing and reverts it to slow speeds.

till u show that its all ok again buy doing what i said above.

Which one? Thinking of getting new P45 mobo - either Asus or Gigabyte but can't decide. Got some some fast PC8500 that is screaming to be overclocked - would prob get a quad core at a later date.

EP45-DS3P, very nice little board.

Yeah maybe it's my board then. I tried the voltages on manual.
The overclock to 2.3Ghz will be fine and stable for days even weeks sometimes then sometimes suddenly the whole machine just turns off then refuses to POST unless powered off at the mains for 10 mins or so.
