ive gotten the chip up to 2.8 with the v-core volts @1.4 ive ran nuclearus and temps are at bout 55 degrees tops, any way i ran 3dmark 06 last night and temps were around the same 55 degrees. Then i ram 3dmark05 popped out for a smoke and when i came back in the temps were at 78 degrees

Is this hot hot hot and should i lower the O/C?

iam using an arctic pro7 cooler at the moment aswell

can you get the voltage any lower and keep it stable?

i would look at your case cooling, if its running CPU tests and hitting around 55deg but when you fire up the GFX card you are seeing 78 - then it sounds like the GFX card is dumping a lot of heat into the case which in turn is effecting how the CPU cooler and perform.

my case is a silverstone tj06 its got 2 120mmfans 1 front one back with a wind-tunnel fitted, and the gfx card (7900gs) is fitted with a zalman cooler.

i,ll try lower the voltage a little and see what happens, ive had to clear the cmos a load of times lol

are you using temperature logging software, monitor the case / nb temp as well, see if all of them rise at a similar kind of rate.

What programmes monitor the case and mobo?

also the voltages are at 1.36250 and showing at 1.34 on speedfan and at 1.336 on cpu-z, memory settings are at stock and havent ajusted the voltages on it either

well seems like it was a dodgy download of speedfan by the looks of things, just ran orthos for an hour and then neclearus and 3Dmark 06 and 05 temps didnt get above 50 degrees and its now idling at 28 :)

so if anyone is going to download speedfan get it from the propper site as i got mine that was reading wrong from another site which i wont mention ;)

This is good advice!

anyone else can help at all please?
Haha how many E6300 threads you got going?

Ok if I was to suggest something sensible, that would be to inspect the surface of the chip to see if the IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader) is flat, I read about many people that complained theirs was concaved and this doesn't help the chip keep cool at all.

I'm sure your not in a rush to take sandpaper to your shiny CPU but 'lapping' it may be something you need to do in due course.

Do the same for your cooler because again there is a chance its base may not be flat.

Now that I have been sensible for a few sentences I feel I can say something silly, take your Arctic Monkey Freezer 7 Pro and throw it in the bin and get yourself a decent heatsink! :D

. . . .runs for cover before the Arctic fanboys start their riot! ;)

1.4V WOW your chip must be broke I can run mine at near enough stock volts on 2.8Ghz.
