Hey guys I've seen a terrific deal on a q6600 and I am very tempted to stump up the cash for one, its sitting at around £100 give or take a quid for the retail version, G0 stepping also!

The question is simply what kind of boost can I expect in general PC operation and also in things such as Autocad, Photoshop, Flash CS3, Archicad and the like?

I have had my e6300 for 2 years now so thinking im due a slight upgrade!

This is unless you guys can show me something else that would be fine for my mobo as I really dont want to upgrade that.

Generally speaking, there isn't that much between them for everyday use. I went from an E6300 to a Q6600, the previous reaching 3.1Ghz and the latter currently running at 3.33Ghz, and it has to be said I haven't really noticed a difference. Mabe a slight increase in Crysis framerates, and obviously a big increase in 3DMark.
For the other uses however I can't comment too much, but I would have thought things like Autocad would make use of all 4 cores?
