E6400 @ 3.2 to Q6600 Pro

Hi, I really think it's worth it. I moved from a E6600 @ 3.4 to the quad, and everything seems a lot smoother.

After a few days clocking and getting the right settings, I'm now enjoying the power of this quad. Encoding, burning, browsing and printing at the same time really shows the difference between the two chips.

Some people say the move ain't worth it, but believe me it is.

Personally, I am waiting for the next generation of Quad Cores. I can't think of anything that I couldn't run with an overclocked E6400. Unless your into high quality video rendering is it really worth the outlay. You don't have to upgrade purely for the sake of it, have a reason!

Agree with nydryl, should wait till the next generation. AMD can have something great is the pipeline, and if not the peryn should run cooler than these hot babies. In my opinion, it's not worth it in performance.

If you look at task manager and see that both of your cores regularly hit 100% then it may be worth it. If they are like mine and run at 1-5% for 99% of the time don't bother.

Some people just have to have the fastest cpu availailable. Even if benches are the only things that stress it. My e6550 at stock is powerful enough for any game or app I throw at it. At 3.4Ghz it it will last for a few more years.
