Any one know when the E6400 Conroes will be available?

Also are they going to be available as OEM, as they are only listed as Retail on OcUK.

Thanks!

They're still Conroe's. Allendale is just the codename Intel gives any chips where some of the L2 cache emerges faulty from the production line. Saves them throwing away an otherwise good chip.

Same architecture but you cant call a Venice a San Deigo so the same should be said of the C2Ds. It wont stop me calling my 6300 a conroe though :D

your wrong there

venices are designed to be 512kb cached chips, they are not fualty 1mb sand diegos.

Well I'd like to go for a 4MB cache E6600 but I don't think my budget will quite stretch there - it's quite a jump! :p

Gibbo or anyone else know what the E6400 availability in retail or OEM packaging is going to be like?

Also - what's Intel's reference HSF supplied in the retail package like? I'm looking to build my new PC as quiet as possible but I'll not be overclocking. I just want a quiet, efficient, reliable HSF.

Thanks guys!
