Hey all,
When I ordered my rig, I was told I could get ~3ghz with the stock cooler of the E6400, now i'm stuck at stockspeed, reaching +60C on tat when stressed, reseated the cooler a few times, didn't fix anything, I idle around 40C on the cores. At 2.4, stock voltages, it reaches +70 on the cores. Now everest shows 2 temperatures; CPU and cores. According to everest, the CPU temp, should not be higher then 60C, and the cores can go up to a 100C.

This is idle:

Now I've heard about a lot of others reaching high temps and they all said get a better cooler first, before you do anything. I only want to reach 3.2ghz and try to get under 60C with the cores. Also I heard about a bad IHS? I took mine and a razorbladethere is coming a very very small light through it, almost nothing. I used AS5 as thermalgrease all times.

Now back to the topic, I want a better cooler which will get me to around 3.2ghz. I heard some very good results from the artic freezer and alsoa bout the ninja. I like the idea of having it cooled passively and overclocked, but that thing is damn heavy and more expensive. What should I do?

TAT readings from 40-70 are fairly common, i'm at 65C full load but thats with all my fans at min rpm. Been told many a time this is far too high, but over 24 hours orthos stress testing says differently ;).

Don't think theres anyway you could get under 60C with a passive ninja and as for the weight theres plenty heavier coolers around. Any of the well recommended coolers would get around 60C on stock voltage and probably below depending on the case cooling and room temps - artic freezer, ninja, tuniq and even the zalman although its ridiculously overpriced imo. Bang for buck its the artic freezer without a doubt though

Well, passive cooling is not required, it'd just be cool, but I dont wanna hang a 1kg cooler on the mobo. I'd happily hang a fan on the HS as I dont care about the noise. How much difference would there be between the Ninja / AF7Pro?
