Hi all,

I'd just like to compare my overclock - To see if I'm doing well or not... So please tell us what you have achieved with your e6400.

My overclock is 430x8 = 3.44Ghz running on a Gigabtye DS4 Board.... But obviously I'd like to go further... :)

Thanks

hi mate, im at 401x8 @ 3.2 with my e6400 with 1.4v... not tried any higher as the cooler im using isnt very good. i mean on idle im at 48-51 load using tat 72-78
so as you can see why i wont push further till i get a new cooler. :D

2.8ghz and there is loads more, I have stopped for now as temps are an issue 42-45 at idle and just over 60 at load from TAT. Need a better cooler or to reseat this one as I though the BT would do a bit better, might get some water cooling. :D

edit:/ this is on a DS3 tbw.

Mine was 410x8 (3.28Ghz). I thought it might have been my DS3 holding me back, but my new E6600 does 450x8 in the same board.

3.2Ghz seems to be the average for the E6400's. Anything over that is good going.

I had mine to 3.36 8x420. @ 1.46v Not very stable though (1M pi stable) random crashes and very hot under load. I can't remember exact temps, in 70's iirc, I was worried enough not to attempt to stabilse @ 3.36 by upping volts further :(

I am running 3.28Ghz 8x410 @ 1.34v 24x7. load temps hit 62 Deg. With decent cooling and the nads to over volt  I would imagine 3.6Ghz+ is a possiblility.

hi,
im at 3.2 400x8 only because i have a p5w. my watercooling is keeping me at 25 idle 35 load. i reckon i could go a lot further if only this motherboard didnt have a stupid fsb cap.

mines at 400x8 = 3.2ghz with loads of headroom thats on stock volts and on air! my crappy ram won't go any higher i've already had to drop the timings back to 5-5-5-15 for this clock anyways! i have a feeling i have a sweet chip here! just need to get me some watercooling and some pc8000 ram and see how high this baby can fly! :D

hopefully getting my rig tomorrow and im hopeing for 3.2 on stock or 3.6 with some more volts. i'll let you know how i get on. should be a nice change from amd.

exactly the same as me, im using g-skill 6400hz, 4gbs worth running 1:1

same o/c as you, can do 420, will work fine for a long time, then crash so not stable :( using a ninja cooler.

Datamonkey, I have read that OEM chips have a slightly concave IHS. Next time I do a clean I will check this and maybe lap my CPU.

I use Akasa 961 it was the only decent cooler I could get at short notice, So in a couple of months I think I will invest in a new cooler and lap this chip. Reducing the multi on CPU (1407 BIOS) enabled a 430 FSB (flakey) with this board.. 427 stable. I need MCH volt mod for more. I reckon after a lap and new cooler 3.4Ghz is definate and 3.54 a possibility. If I could acheive 450 FSB and 3.6Ghz on air I will be pleased. But in all honesty I think an O/C in this range on air is a dream. A heat pipe dream :)

/EDIT 427FSB stable at 1:1 with G.Skill NR @ 15.4.4.5, 2.05v = DDR854 not bad for cheap memory MCH=1.65v CPU multi@7

Hey Kitten,

Mine is also oem, yeah let me know if it is concave, should have checked mine when i got it but didnt bother :( did get it from the first batch though.

Pretty happy with the o/c but not sure if its the mobo holding us back really, i can only do 1.65v on the mch where's newer rev's of the p5w can do more.

I am also on 1407 bios. Im thinking of saying sod it and getting the bad axe though, as the sata setup on the p5w is really annoying me now, have 6 sata hdds, but can only get 4 working on this mobo when i have the intel raid controller enabled.

I ran mine at 8 x 425 - 3.4Ghz on my P5B-Dlx, with GSKILL 6400HZ 1:1.
Orthos/Game stable with a TT Big Typhoon cooler. Vcore: 1.475v in bios, VDDR : 2.00v in bios.
All other voltages at AUTO.

Did not try for more as i got an E6600 :)

Datamonkey, I think it is the mobo, more MCH volts would do it I believe. Only having 2 SATA drives presents no problem with the controllers, I couldn't really justify another mobo so I can overclock more :(

When I do check the CPU I will let you know. If IHS is concave, I will post some images.

Virdi, sorry for hijacking your thread, you have a real nice OC there.

I put my new e6400 system together on thursday

Asrock Conroei945g-Dvi ( Not a great Overclocker for now )
1 Gig DDR2 667
Stock Cooler ( For Now )

Without any changes in voltages and a very quick play

8x301 (2407)
Mem Timings 3.3.3.8.11

Ive seen no increase in cpu temps really about 45-50 on load and all seems stable so far, would like to get 3.0ghz, but i think that might be abit much for this mobo unless they release a better bios.

i also had to increase the pci-e frequency to 101 to get it to post past 300.

Still looking for more info on this board, but it seems its not that popular with overclockers.

Did read a post where someone was able to run it at over 400FSB but without a external gfx card because he was running pci-e in sync and not async and using the onboard gfx card that comes with the board.
