my e6400 i8s running at the 2.13ghz stock, i have a decent cooler and ram, but im really not in the mood for messing things up lol, say if i overclocked it to 2.6ghz, will there be any improvements in games?

Also, i havent overclocked in years, how do i do it, my ram is 4gb 6400 geil ram, but im really lost on it lol, go into bios, set the multiplyer or something and ram speed?

thanks to any suggestions.

It would help if we knew what motherboard you have? And, in games which are cpu intensive, yes it would give an improvement. It would help also if you said what graphics card you have and what games you are trying to play.

The more you tell us the more we can help.

Cheers,
vfm

More information as has been pointed out would make answering the question a whole heap easier. The amount of effort to over clock that CPU to a modest 2.6 should not involve any more than changing the FSB to 326. All the rest can be left at auto.

Not sure if you ram is up to the task as we have no idea what it is but rule of thumb would indicate that it should cope with that small increase.
