I am currently running an E6400 CPU in a Foxconn 946GZ7MA motherboard with 4Gb of PC5300-677 RAM. My pc is used for general computing an a rail simulation program.

Would I notice any great improvement in speed if I upgraded to say an E7400/E7500 CPU.

Thanks.

You won't be doing much overclocking in that board though. If i remember right the only option is to increase the fsb. No voltage tweaks at all. Not even for the ram.

It's a no go anyway. Just had a look at the cpu support and it does'nt support 45nm cores. Only takes the E4000/6000 series core2duo's, Pentium dual core E2000 series, Pentium D's, Pentium 4s and Celerons.

Thanks very much for that information. It's saved me from wasting some money on a new processor.

Perhaps I'll have to consider a motherboard upgrade or even a completely new computer.

Thanks again.
