e6400 worth buying ?

At that kind of price i would upgrade to the 512mb x1950pro and go for 2gb of ram rather than 1gb. Surely if you can unlink the memory it's speed won't matter too much!

This is what i came up with.

Either, like i said its down to opinion. But the main point. If your going to upgrade go conroe
Agreed! Made the mistake of staying 939 with my opty - just got lucky in that it clocked very well which meant it performed quite well plus its resale value was excellent!

Go C2D!!! ;) :p

thing is to be honest i just want a graphics card that does the job basically...like mine i have in now a mega bad 6300 but it plays every game out apart form test drive unlimited....i hav to put everything on low for it to play very good but still it does the job, im one for gameplay not graphics, im sure a 512mb 7300 would be allot better than the 124mb 6300 ! wouldnt it ?

i mean dont get me wrong if i can afford good graphics then why not ;)

on ebay ive been looking at some of the systems there selling
please look at this

go onto Item number: 110111331656

to me that is a good systen and for the price is even better, there a great seller, i bought my last computer form them and as i say no troubles what so ever...

can you give your verdict on that computer please

many thanks for all your replies ;)

I bought my first PC from a bay auction like the one you've highlighted. It did what it said on the tin for a decent price and if your budget is that limited then there is little you can do. But i would have to say that i noticed the very first upgrade when i modified what i'd bought from them. I'm sure you would do the same. They are cheap afterall!!!

Firstly the fact that they list the AMD 4600+ processor like this - Processor Speed: 4,600 MHz leads me to believe they are hyping up the buyers and not actually telling it how it is!

On top of that the 7300 512mb turbocache graphics you keep mentioning will not be any faster than what you already have. Turbocache is just a buzz word. The card only has 256mb of ram and gets the other 256mb from the main memory - hence 512mb total. But remember... you're losing 256mb of system memory in the process.

The kit in that pc will be some of the cheapest components available - believe me when i say you get what you pay for.

If that's all you have to spend and you don't have an available case, psu, hdd, dvd drive then get it but you could do much better if you made the pc yourself.

Lastly i suppose you could get it, flog the 7300 and buy anything from a 7600gt to an x1950pro. That would mean you could play your games at medium to high settings. Saying you're more into gameplay is fine but todays games try to immerse you and at 'low' that most definately won't be happening!

It's up to you. ;)

wouldnt it be better to get an nvidia based mobo if the 4300 wont hit massive FSB's this would allow him to up his memory mhz independantly of the cpu multi and get better speed + results with more bang per buck?

many thank for your advice and help ;)

*** computer i am using now. my main computer is

4200amd dual...
asrock mobo no good
1gb ddr400
250sats
450w power
6300 turbo cache....OK

rite so i go my 7950gx2...but as things go i had to upgrade my mobo aswell for it to work

so i thought rite i will go for the whole lot...

so i also bought
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo
160gb western digital sata2
550 atx power supply
and a new case

i fit it al together worked fin then i started playing a game and it started overheating, i was on here posting like mad and trying to find answers but i do everything you all told me to and eventually got worse.. but thats a different story...

so after thinking i thought rite i will put THIS computer back together so my original which ive allready told you the specs.....so now i have put my graphics on ebay and mymobo on ebay so form that i should get 220-240..

i have kept my 160gb sata2 hd and my 550w atx power supply (very cheap not big make), my case, so if i was to put things together i would just end up with the same problem again..im very sure..... so in the end the conlusion was to spend the 220-240..and then save another 80-100 up....so say 330..and then go on ebay and buy a ok computer like the one i have mentioned.........

Or the other basic option was to sell my card and mobo and WAIT! just keep the 220 until the prices come down..basically
