I am just waiting for my power supply to arrive before I can test my new build but how far do you think I can push the CPU with normal air cooling. I have a freezer pro 7 sitting on it.

Thanks from the OC noob :D

Got mine to 3.4 but hit a FSB wall at 8x428 :(

p.s. Your sig is too big according to forum rlues mate, too many lines ;)

Well I have the same board as you so I would be very interested to know how far you can overclock it :)

I could put 1.6 vcore through mine and I couldn't get it passed 3.4 (426x8)

But 3ghz is very easy with good air on these chips!!

Be sure to post your results back ;)

iv got my E2160 1.8 up to 3ghz useing a freezer pro 7
it gets up to 35c idle and up to 65c on 100% workload

Is the freezers fan plugged into the CPU header?

Might have a fan speed setting in the BIOS for it if it is.

Yes it seems to come on every now and then. Chip is running at about 20 so it appears ok.

To change fan speeds go to PC health in Bios and
Select Legacy in the Smart fan Control to allow cpu temp to determine fan speed or Disable for the fan to run at full speed all of the time

If legacy selected then in Smart Fan mode set to voltage if the cooler has a 3pin connector or PWM if it has a 4pin.

The temp. of 20 does not seem right; are you using TAT to measure it? if not try TAT.

Hope this helps

Read the sticky in the overclocking section - Beginners guide to overclocking. It tells you everything you need to know. That's how I learned about 6 months ago!
