e6420 overclock and motherboard

Hi

correct me if i'm wrong but will a e6420 overclock well to 3.0-3.4ghz? If so would this not take it up to and beyond the x6800's extreme performance?

Also what would be a good motherboard to go with this and a 8800gts/gtx(possibly sli later on)?

Ive been looking a the gigabyte 965p DS3 (there is a P version as well but i cant see the difference)

any help would be appreciated

Nope, as the 6800 is a Quad Core CPU.

I've been looking a the gigabyte 965p DS3 (there is a P version as well but i cant see the difference)

The DS3P has some changes in layout and native 1333fsb support

cheers, but isnt that the qx6800? I mean just the x6800? so would the dual core x6800 have *** same performance as the e6420 at 3ghz?

aha sorry misread, that's been discontinued afaik, but yeah should give the same performance.

Should be easy enough given its stock speed, most C2D will do 3ghz easily
