E6420 running at right speeds?

yes...the multiplier is 6 because speedstep is enabled. As soon as the CPU sees sufficient load it will jump to 8 (8x266 = 2130)

Why? CPU clocks zip up to full speed as soon as the cpu gets any work. Even just dragging a window around the screens normally enough to trip the cpu back to full speed.

Speedstep saves energy, and reduces cpu temperatures when cpu is idle.

The only reason to turn of Speedstep is becuase you are overclocking.

If your leaving everything at stock it wont make a diffrence.

Even when overclocking it only really seems to make a difference when your taking screenshots, unless im missing something ?

I still have speed step on, my E6420 runs overclocked at 2400 slow and 3200 fast.
