I built my system about two weeks ago and im finnaly gettin round to testing overclocks etc.

Firstly Im seeing how my temps are on stock.

Currently i have 1 IE open, running a defrag, msn and media player and my temps are at:

system 47
cpu 39.

(These look wrong imo).

What temps should I be looking at?

Also do people take off the thermal compund that comes with the Heatsink and apply other stuff?

Hi,

I also have the es6600 with AC7 running on the DFI Infinity, overclocked to 2800ghz my temps after 10 minutes are:

System 45c
CPU 46C
NB 47C

Used the heat paste that come pre applied.

If the CPU temp is was taken with CoreTemp or Intel TAT its okay.

As for the thermal compound the AC7s compound is good enough or you could get some AS5

I saw a big drop in tempreatures when using Akasa thermal paste, my advice if your overclocking dont use the stock thermal paste .

I've just bought an E6300 and AC7 not connected it all yet as case and PSU arrive tomorrow.
Is the pre-applied paste ok or should I get hold of better stuff? (bearing in mind I do want to overclock but haven't built a PC in years so not entirely sure how complicated it will be to prepare the cooler)
Are there any good guides around to removing the pre-applied paste? any specific to the AC7?
