Just bought a new cpu, new mem and a new mobo, see sig. And would just like a little help with a few settings.

I'm completely new to intel, been AMD forever so just need a kick in the right direction.

Just checked cpuz and my cpu clock can be different at anyone time, sometimes 2.4ghz others 1.6ghz and so on. So I take it the freq changes depending and what ya system is doing? Can ya set this so its just one clock all the time?

Also need some tips with overclocking, ie, what to change and how much by etc. ie how the ram timing relate to the cpu etc. just to try a nice little oc to begin with.

I've also had a look but not too sure where the pci/pci-e freq options are - to lock them?

I know there's a big sticky on this but i'm no novice to oc'in, just need a little push to get me started.

Ta.

Clock changing is part of intels energy effeciency thingy. It automatically clocks down the multiplyer when its not needed to save temp/power.

As for those CPUs, whack the bus up until you hit 3GHz, leave voltage/multiplyer and it should go easily.

Relax memory until it boots. You can get 3.2GHz with ease on that CPU. Just keep turning it up. Don't touch the voltage until you absolutly have to.

As for the mobo, I have one clocked mega high with a E4300, I don't remember the exaxt numbers but it goes very high FSB. :-)

ok so i put fsb upto 300 and got a nice 2.7ghz oc

In cpuz the rest of the settings are as follows:

Rated fsb - 1200mhz

Mem freq - 450mhz
fsb:dram - 2:3
cas - 5
ras to cas - 6
ras pre - 6
tras - 18
command rate - 2T

Any tips?

Keep going, dont stop until you get past 3 :) , I would watch the ram more than the CPU, just turn down the ratio or up the voltage on the ram when you start getting issues.
