E6600 and heatsink change??

Hi guys,

I currently have my E6600 at 3.4Ghz with it at 1.425vcore. My temps are 50C under a full load with my Boinc folding program running both cores :) . I have a Zalman 9700 turned up to about 2100rpms (2500rpms is maximum)..

I'm wondering whether or not to change the heatsink to the Thermalright Ultra Extreme to lower the temps further and try to get a bit more out of it, would it be worth it or should I just buy another CPU altogether? For the fan side of things, I have a YS Tech 120mm model, but its the 38mm thick model so my trusty Nexus fan controller will come in handy... :D

Would it be worth it and would it lower my temps to a more overclockable level?

I have a Coolermaster Stacker 810 case, with 2 120mms at the front, 1 120mm at the rear, 1 120mm on my PSU (OC Z 520W Mod Stream) and a 80mm at the top of the case. I could move the PSU to the bottom of the case and put 2 80mm fans at the top of it, if that would help with temps a bit further.

Would anyone care to suggest what would be best to do for me please??

My train of thought was, as I can put the 9700 onto my AM2 rig and it lowers the temps on that by about 5 to 6C depending on overclock (sometimes maybe more) I thought I could swap it over and that have the thermalright on my Conroe?

I can bench at 3.83Ghz or so (430FSB?) but the temps are a little high due to the 1.625vcore I have to use to get it stable. I just thought the better heatsink and fan might help me get a bit more out of her?? I've seen temps (in the Core Temp temp log) of upto 70C (peaks) and I didnt think that was so ideal..

The other thing was, is there any simple mods I can do to my Abit AW9D-Max board to get it a bit more stable or get the boards temps down a bit more? Was thinking of putting a 40mm fan on the north bridge, I thought that might help a bit?

Comments and opinions duly welcome :) Many thanks :)
