E6600 conroe Max Freq?

I know it's an old CPU, but what was the max you got your E6600 to?
I'm running @ 3.2 @ 42c max load and under volts.
Want to try higher as it can easily take it. But what is the max limit would you think/know?
 
You know it's actually quite a strange question, that.

I used to have a E4500 and at the time I got it I could only get around 3ghz out of it. Later on in its life I put it into a EVGA 680i and managed 3.4ghz out of it easy. Edit, I was using a Noctua 120mm cooler.

Thing is, cooling has drastically changed for the better since those things were launched so really? sky is the limit providing you don't get naughty with the volts.

A mate of mine used to run his E8400 with a basic early 120mm cooler and he got 4ghz out of that (mind you he was right on the temp limit).

I shudder to think how much fun you could have with one of those and a H100 lol.
 
I had a E6600 that I bought the week they were released which ran at 3.6GHz using 1.53v and a Scythe Ninja heatsink with quiet fan.

It ran that way for 4 years completely stable in an Asus P5W-DH Deluxe until I upgraded to an i7 930 and still runs to this day at stock in a shuttle PC.
 
About 4ghz on my phase change cooler if i remember correctly, it was badly limited by the silly asus sli mobo. I actually tried the chip on another board first and it was performing a lot better, but then i realised my board wasnt sli and i had the 2 8800 ultras and water coolers all ready to go.
 
Thanks for the replies. Might start to slowly increase it over a few weeks. Only problem is the memory. It's 800MHz, but MB will only do 2x or 2.5x clock. So i'll have to run under clocked at 2x on memory till I get to 400MHz. Which would 3.6gHz on CPU.
 
The 400mhz will be 800mhz I imagine. Somthibg to do with it being double data rate or somthing. I cant remember exacly as its been so long since I touch the fsb
 
Good thing about the 65nm chips was that they could take high volts without issue. I ran a q6600 at 3.8ghz on 1.55 for over a year without a hitch.
 
I used to run mine at 400 MHz fsb (so ddr2 ram ran at 800mhz exactly).
I tried an 8x multi for 3.6Ghz but it ran far too hot with the voltage it needed on my cheap Artic Freezer 7 pro cooler, so I just went for 3.2Ghz with a 7x multi.

I think that's wrong. I'm was at 3.2Ghz but 9x multi. 356Mhz x 9 = 3.204 ish.
400Ghz x 9 = 3.6
 
4GHz @ 1.65v IIRC (watercooled) ran happily for 2 years like that (used for compiling q2/3 maps, video encoding, etc.) and was still working fine at stock a couple of months back last I heard.

Unfortunately can only find the screenshots for ~3.8GHz http://aten-hosted.com/images/spi3.jpg I had another one in my gaming PC that was run at 3.825 ~1.52v. (EDIT: Think that screenshot is from the one in my then gaming PC).

[email protected] works ok on 1.8v for me. if i drop it down to 3.311ghz i can run it at 1.6v just fine.. its not worth the extra voltage. :p
