Hi guys,

I currently have a e6600 clocked at 3.2ghz 1.4volts and i am getting idle temps of around 45 and last evening load temps playing Football manager of 66 degrees.

this is far oo hot for my liking in all honesty. During winter it was 40 and 60 respectively which is partially the reason why i only have it at 3.2ghz as higher temps are a no no imho.

anyway the cooling that i have at the moment is a thermaltake soprana case

http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chassis/midtower/soprano/vb1000bws.asp

with a tri cool fan on max in the front and a tri cool in the rear on medium both 120mm, however due to the positioning of the hdd bay infront of the front intake i dont think its the best solution at all.

the Cooler is a Scythe Ninja B which having just looked at reviews is nott actually that great a cooler anymore.

so as i intend to keep this system for at least 12-18 months and probably push it to 3.4 or 3.6 ghz in order to ge some mroe longevity out of it i need a cooler solution.

so Im basically looking at a new case / cooler combo for around £70-80

Im thinking

Antec 300

and a tuniq tower

however im not sure if the tunig would be overkill ?

all suggestions appreciated :)

Firstly - hot weather = higher temps. and 66 load on a hot day is fine for a E6600
Have you tried lower volts - 1.35 should be fine for 360x9 or even 370x9
(400x8 might need the extra and a bit on the NB too, mine did)

The 300 is a good airflow friendly budget case - might be all you need.
Either that or keep the case and just get a top five tower cooler and some quality fans.

there is not side panel fitment for a fan unfortunately otherwise there would already be one on there :)

have increased the fan on the rear now though to see if it makes much difference :)
