E6600 & DS3 - too hot?

i think thats too warm, should be fine if your running at stock but thats not an ideal start if u intend to overclock.

What Cooler and mobo u using?

AF 7 Pro doesnt seem to be that good as sometimes the clips that attach it to the mobo are not that solid / tight even when fitted as well as posible.

just as a comparison.

i have a E6600 @ stock with a sythe ninja WITHOUT a fan. and it idles at 24c
and room temp is 20c :)

Hi my E6600 currently idles at 50-53 according to TAT. Is this too hot?
Also would fitting a northbridge fan be any use, and if so what one?

It depends. Are you overclocked? If so, then it might not be excessive depending on how much extra voltage you're pushing through the CPU. If you are not overclocked then it's pretty warm.

With regard to the Northbridge fan, no, a Northbridge fan would not help your CPU temperatures.

What are everyone's thoughts on this fan controller http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=OA-002-AK&tool=3 ? Also does anyone know if it'll fit in an Antec P180, the dials look quite large
It's an awesome controller, I have one. You get back plates with it too, which you can spray any colour to suit your case if you need to. Wires are a little fiddly but worth it. The nobs pull off with a tiny bit of force, but it doesn't damange anything. Then you can turn tiny black nobs underneath instead. The nobs, to me, look smaller than on other fan controllers.

As you can see, I had to remove the back plate from my cases light. But thats OK for me becuase I don't have the light plugged in anyway. Here's with the nobs off (couldn't be bothered to take the last one off, that one's a little stiff and I don't wanna have trouble putting it back on just for the sake of showing it to you :p ).
