Hi all,

I just recieved my shipment from OcUk containing a Gigabyte 965P-DS3P mobo and Core 2 Duo E6600 cpu.

I had a look at the batch number of the cpu and its L644G431 and packdate is 03/26/07. Did anybody else recieve the same batch?

Does this chip perform as well as the chips from earlier batches?

Thanks

just cause its from the same batch does not mean they will all be good or all will be bad.

Im afraid the only true way to tell is to test it

Ok, its just that I've been reading some bad reports about the 44G batch.

I will test it out once I get my new memory, I'm still not sure what ram to go for.

Had one of those, needed about 1.475v for a paltry 3.1Ghz, thats as far as i carried it before i sent it off to client at stock, don't usually overvolt client rigs but had to see if it was actually the vcore holding it back as it would'nt even POST at 2.8ish Ghz on stock volts, never had an E6600 that would'nt! nothing compared to me current champion L629b E6600 that does 3.4 at 1.325v.

 :(

Now I'm really starting to worry!

Maybe mine will be an exception. :D

I'm surprised nobody else got this batch number from OcUK, I read that many people bought this cpu since the price drop.

Stickroad, do you think that I'd be better off getting the Ballistix PC-6400 for an extra 21 pounds?

Nope no need, get the Crucial 5300, they will clock to 6400 speeds and above.
Save your money.

Thanks! :)

I've read that the Ballistix work fine with the DS3P even though they are not listed on the Gigabyte site as supported memory, so i'll go for these so I can start testing this cpu. Hopefully I'll get atleast 3.2 Ghz out of it!
