E6600 lapped

Well I decided yesterday that I would have a crack at this
I heard a few people had managed to drop there core temps by 10oC but most people seemed to get about 6oC drops

Set up as follows:
E6600 @ 3.1ghz - 1.4v
Thermalright ultra-120 + 120mm fan
AS5 paste

Anyway I have to say im a little disapointed in my results but there was a definate temp drop using Intels TAT

Load using Orthos - 52/53
Load using Seti - 50/51
Idle - 45/46

All taken with central heating on today and no windows open

There is definately a 3-4 degree drop all round there from what I had before... still I would have thought it would have been a little more :( oh well
I used my icemat as the flat surface covered with a sheet of paper to protect it and then 400, 600, 800, 1200 grit papers.... I could not get 1000 grit anywhere

lapping is the term used when you sand down the CPU like in this thread mate

how the hell did you get a shine like that on the CPU :eek:
