Ok guys, recently bought a new mobo to try and get a bit of a longer life out of my current setup.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4ghz) Socket 775 FSB1066 4MB Cache
GIGABYTE GA-P31-ES3G
Kingston 2GB KIT (2X1GB) DDR2 667MHz/PC2-5300 CL5 Non Ecc 1.8V

I'm not sure if i'm going about it the wrong way entirely but if i up the FSB by even 10 my machine no longer boots :S, i'm not sure what to change with regards to voltage but messed around a little with no luck. Ideally i want as high a clock speed as i can stably.

I read that the FSB can go to about half the speed of the ram speed? but if i change it at all it wont boot any more.

Any tips or ideas on how to get this working???

what do you mean by the dividers 5-3-4-2 <-- those numbers (not actual numbers just random)

I dont think i had the option to change them in the bios, could be wrong.

Try to overclock the CPU first by keeping the RAM 1:1 with the FSB, at least at first. IE. FSB 350mhz = RAM 700mhz etc. Not sure how it works on your mobo but on my ancient P5B-Deluxe it works fine. Give the CPU some more juice and you will hit at least 3.2 no worries.

Also keep the timings slack - 5-5-5-15 or whatever your RAM is rated at (and check voltage too).

All i can see to change with regards to ram is the voltage. I know ram is the easiest thing to blow so havent bothered yet. but if i change the FSB at all it just wont boot. I have tried adding more volts to the cpu but it still just wont boot. Should i try adding +1/+2 to the ram and see if that effects it ????

I had a problem o/cing an e8400 recently with any change to the fsb causing a cascade of reboots followed by a BIOS restore.

Turns out I needed a BIOS update for CPU compatibility and now I seem to be able to fiddle to my hearts content :D

It's worth checking.

ah that may be the issue ill check it out later today. Yeah the exact thing happens with mine, loads of reboots then it falls back.

Hopefully that will do the trick.
