ah well i get my 2.5 celly 2morrow so guess i can use that for a few days wonder what its gonna be like when i swop em over will i notice the differnts lol
 
The difference will be insane.. going from a 3.0c Northwood at 3.5ghz this Celly at 3.4ghz just chugs!

Bless it's little cottons.. can't wait to get rid of it!
 
OMG

I have recieved my email saying my E6600 has been shipped!! :D

Now all I need is a bloody 590SLI mobo and I can actually use the dam thing, and as they rumoured not to be out till mid Aug, this is gonna be a painfull wait!! :mad:

Fingers crossed all the guys who are still waiting get theirs soon.
 
It looks like others are also now seeing supply, ive just had confirmation that the 2 i ordered from another supplier have been shipped :), looks like intel is finally sorting themselves out.
 
sigh i ordered mine on the 22nd, but my intel bx mobo hasnt arrived yet. would have made sence if they arrived with the 6600's. Any1 have any idea when my intel extreme mobo will come in?

7-10 days apparently (on the phone). But I changed to DS3, sounds a goodun.
 
What's fustrating is that now E6600 is retail, the overwhelming urge to buy is crushing but I'm still holding out for a better motherboard and Gibbos other post isn't helping either.

Where's the RD600? :(
 
Hi there folks.

I can finally log onto the forum now after a bit of waiting, and after much reading of other people's highs/lows.

Well, I ordered my E6600 on 13th July, but unfortunately checking the Order Tracking page still shows "Your order has been sent to our warehouse but not yet printed" which it has done since the day of order.

I wasn't sure which board to go with, but my current p4 system has an Asus board (p4p800) and I've always been more than happy with it, so gone for another Asus board, the P5B this time, so I'll see how I get along with that.
Also ordered some Cosair XMS2-6400C4 ram, and a Gainward BLISS GeForce 7900GT 512MB version.

That's run my credit card back up again, but I needed all new for the upgrade.

Oh well, good luck to you other folks who've ordered E6600s. Hope we all receive ours soon, and, anybody had theirs reported as shipping who've ordered after 13th July?

Just asking, as I've just checked, and all the other parts I ordered appear to be in stock, and don't want to be left out ;)

Blimey. Actually I thought I'd ordered mine before 13th July, I think it just seems like longer ago... also because I was looking at CPUs/Boards around the end of June, but didn't take the plunge until 13th. I've seen nobody mention the P5B yet, so hoping it'll be a decent board.

Should make encoding all these DV files a lot easier. With multiple passes and best quality settings to get my DV to MPEG2 takes 12 hours sometimes!! (with P4 3GhzHT) Not sure how much faster the E6600 is gunna be at encoding that my current system, but I'm hoping to get that number of hours down to at least 6. As for overclocking.... I wonder how the Asus AI system will deal with it... though to be honest, I'm more concerned with a 100% stable system than OC'ing the hell out of it.... ;)

its like 24 C on Idle ! and Dual Prime it is like only 47-48C

OK, I'm offline again now.
Been one hell of a day. Left my main system running last night encoding some video as I went to bed.

Got up this morning to find my 300GB storage drive corrupted, with all my work on it. Encoded jobs, raw DV files to be encoded, and pending jobs.
Spent all day with partition managers trying to get them back, as it wouldn't be the first time I've had corrupt MFTs, but none of my softs could get this back, and in the end I had to decide I couldn't afford any more time on it, so had to format, and start the jobs over again. So, hope that E6600 performs as I hope, and lets me get through them a lot quicker ;)

So, thanks for the welcomes.
I'm no big OCer, so I may not post a lot, but I'll sure be keeping my eye on these forums, and look forward to reading other peoples experiences with clocking the Conroe CPUs, and maybe have a go myself ;)
