Im sorry for this lol i couldnt find the old thread.

Im wondering what voltages i should try set to my e6600 to get 3.4 to sit stable... cause its unstable on auto voltage whereas 3.2 was (sort of). Im running a noctua cooler so temps shouldnt be a problem.

Edit: Using an asus p5b deluxe.

I've got mine at 3.4ghz stable at 1.45v :)

Shouldn't need to go any higher unless you want to hit 3.6, but of course each cpu is different, so just see what works but aim for around 1.45 :)

edit: mines on an asus p5ne so on a different chipset but still should be about same.

Try 1.4v first, if its stable at 3.2 on stock volts then 1.4 might give you that extra 200MHz. I've throughly tested my L629B now and found the rock solid spots:

3.4Ghz at 1.3v currently kept at 1.325v for that extra peace of mind
3Ghz at 1.25v
3.6Ghz at 1.375v
3.8Ghz at 1.425v

The last two, while doable, defeats my silent PC needs, temps start to hit 70C+ under low speed so i'd rather a cool 3.4.

Stepping? Week?

Hi pretty new to OC'ing and have read up a lot off the internet to get my E6600 at 3GHz stock voltage. Thinking of going further but this would mean to OC my ram or get slightly faster ram at a later date. Anyways this looks like a great forum and ive heard abit about stepping or manufacturor dates on E6600's, certain dates of production mean better oc'ers? Any help Mucho appreciated :)

EDIT: L629B365 is my Batch number....Can anyone help?

You got a good one. My L629B (same) can do 3.4Ghz on 1.3v (less than stock) Orthos Stable. Max i've carried it is 3.8Ghz 1.425v. Also that stepping is generally known for high clocks on low volts. As usual though, your mileage may vary.

Great thanks, Will be pushing it further after buying some 800 or possibly 1066 ram. Dont feel to confident about overclocking ram.

Its temps are 35C Idle 46C Load, at 3Ghz so plenty of room.

I had it 26C idle at stock speed lol.

my E6600 (7638A700) is running at 3.2GHz / 1.280v, it`s orthos stable but going to see how low i can get the volts with it remaining stable.
