Hello chaps, have replaced my motherboard (from Asus P5NE-SLI to GA-G31M-ES2L) and am having problems replicating my overclock.
Spec -
GA-G31M-ES2L
E6600 - 266x9
Geil ddr2 800mhz
Seasonic 600w psu
Tuniq tower
Previously i was running at 3.3ghz for about 2 years (stable in orthos for 12 hours), not sure what the vcore was, perhaps 1.42? I don't think any other voltages were changed.
Now on the new board it's not even stable at 3.15ghz and orthos will stop after 2 mins, i've tried increasing the vcore all the way up to 1.4v, increasing chipset by 0.1v and ram by 0.1v. I tried each change separately and altogether. This is with the ram multiplier set to 2.0, so it's effectively underclocking the ram to 760mhz or so. I've tried higher FSBs but i can't even boot into windows then, even with increased vcore.
One problem is i don't have much choice for ram multipliers on this board, but i would have thought that i would be able to get close to my old overclock with no problems.
At the moment i've left it stock, i did have it running at 2.88ghz with a ram multiplier of 2.5 (so ram was running at 800mhz), ran orthos for 11 mins, pressed stop and the computer completely froze, the power and reset buttons wouldn't even work so had to power off at the plug - why the hell would this happen?
Can anyone give some suggestions?
Thanks.
