Ok so im overclocking my brothers E6600 for him and i have it at a nice 3.40GHZ, Vcore is at 1.45, ram to 1.8, 378x9.0.
Now i get to about 33 minutes in orthos and prime 95 and then 1 core comes up with 1 error so then it cra$s out.
So any E6600 owners got any advice as personally i have been to about 40 different web sites and no one gives any straight answers.
Any help is seriously appreciated.
His setup is the same as mine apart from he has a different GPU and CPU.

Difficult to give a straight answer though . . . .
I have an E6600 and the only way I could get 3.4 was to drop my Multi to 8x and run the FSB at 425. (B2 chip). Cant get it any higher than that without pumping stupid amounts of Vcore through my Chip. Try upping the northbridge by 0.1. Even bump up the ram.
Im sure I have that ram and its supposed to run at 2.1v isnt it? I would check up on that. . . . .

Awesome thx m8, just ran CPU-Z and this is a B2 aswell so i will follow your advice, also, how long should i have prime95 on for, 1 hour ok you think ?

Try and avoid overclocking/over volting the memory if possible as its a LOT more sensitive to overclocking than any other component and even with active cooling extra voltage above spec can kill it quickly.

The OCing ability of the E6600 depends a lot on the cooling - you can easily get them to 3.6gig with a decent cooler but on the average cooler 3.3-3.4 is more likely.

One of mine has been running stable at 3.825 since forever using water cooling and 1.65vcore. The other won't go above 3.5gig stable no matter what.

Mine wont go above 3.4 I personally think its the motherboard. But then, im happy with it. Anyway, I know the Reaper-X is specified as 2.1V . . . .

I’m running mine at 3.4ghz, can’t seem to go above that on my 680i. I’m at very low voltage. I think it’s about 1.3v but I’m at work and cant check.

Out of interest what other settings do you guys run?

I’m not very experienced overclocker so it’s all just a hit and a miss. I’m running my memory unlinked and my multiplier is default. Not sure what lowering the multiplier does to be perfectly honest.

Hey there garylouden, my settings are as follows, FSB is at 378, 9x multiplier, 2.0v on the memory and 1.45 vcore and that is it.
Another thing to consider is that the 680i mobos suffer from Vdroop which is a drop in voltage and an overclockers worst nightmare as this lowers the vcore and makes the overclock unstable ending in a nice blue screen.
