e6600 stuck at 346mhz (3.11ghz) Windows won't boot with higher :(

Hi guys, i dont seem to be able to overclock my 6600 past 3.11ghz. I have the Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard BIOS ver 1901 (the latest). Im also using the Tuniq Tower cooler. If i go ever 1mhz more to 347 my computer will not start to boot when i F10 and save changes. Or if i can finally get it to it will crash whilst the windows logo is running :( Also as soon as i hit 347 my ram to tries to run to fast on the current 4:5 ratio. So i think that might have something to do with it. However i have tried changing it to a 1:1 ratio, but with no luck.

Im using 1.475 volts, but havt tried the ranges from 1.35-1.525 and still nothing will work about 346mhz.

Additionally my cpu isn't even running stably at 3.11 ghz orthos forces my computer to restart randomly after 30mins-3hours. Also when playing games my computer has a habbit of randomly restarting too :(

Here are pics of my settings through CPUZ

additionaly i don't think it is a temperature problem as my cpu doesnt go about 55 and idles at around 44.

Any ideas? thanks in advance :)

I mate

some CD2 have front side bus "wall"
no matter how much Vcore you put on it,they do not go 1 mhz over that " wall"

some friends here have that problem
in the end they sold the cpu´s and bought another ones

I now is sad but it happens

so i can't get over tht no matter ***? kk nvm. fast enough as it is ^^ however im dissapointed with the stability, i can't run t at stock volts or even anything under 1.45 really :/

sorry cpu vtt? is tht the MCH (north bridge)? oh, do u mean the FSB Termination Voltage?

Sorry no Idea what its called on your MB, something like CPU frontside volts, assumed it would be the same on an Asus. Might just be a 680 thing?

ok i've tried it, with vcore @ 1.5v, and all the other settings maxed as u sed it still wont boot at 7x400. Damn my cpu :(

yep sound like fsb wall

it will boot at 346 mhz X 7 / 8 / 9 multiplier
but as soon who raise 1 mhz in cpu fsb - system do not boot animore

some friends bought two / tree CD2 before they find a real good overclocker(I now is a stupid thingh to do but when you are addicted to overclocking you c´ant help it)

anyway is your cpu one of the first´s E 6600? ( when they came out)
cause some of the firts ones are real bad overclockers, they need a lot of VCore to reach a little overclock.( 3000 /3200 mhz)

well i had it preordered here on ocuk, so i got it at the beginning yes. Erm, as for which one it is exactly, is there anyway i can find out?

in the case of cpu

FPO / Batch #

indicates the date of manufacturing

also if it starts with an L is good
but if it is a number is not so good
( this is not exact science, but for owners feedback, normally it have some accuracy)

I have a P5W DH and the 1901 Bios completely ******* my system. It was stable at 390*9 on 1707 but was totally unusable with 1901. Try either 1707 or 2001 (beta) which apparently solves the problem (which may have been related to the 1333mhz boot setting).

sorry I write" case" of cpu - my english is bad :)

if you still have the package of cpu you could find it in the FPO/ Batch #
is in one of the sides

second nº is the year and third nº is the week( if I´m not mistaken)

Its not an FSB wall.

Thats a 975 chipset board yes? Well using the tight chipset straps they rarely get passed 350mhz anyway.

If you want a good FSB clock you need a 965, 650i or 680i or a decent clocking 975 (which I don't know which).

CR.
