Hi there, just wondering....

Under load (intel burn in) my E6600 @ 3.3GHz 9x368 (1.328V auto) can hit 71oc

is this dangerously high.?

And do you think i would be able to lower the cpu voltage.?

Thanks

I dont think its dangerous till around 90.

Got mine at 3.4, think its around 63 from memory.

Cant remember my cpu voltage.

1.328 is quite low voltage anyway for that overclock. 71c is not anything really worry about since you're never really at 100% load anyway.

That and IBT will heat up ur cpu far more then any other stress progarm out there atm.

no programs i run todate have ever reached IBT types of stress, most barely tough prime/orthos lvls even then normally lower, so i think you are fine.

Ahh cheers guys, never seen that sort of temp before IBT and just got me thinking :p

I'll just keep an eye on it during the usual usage/crysis etc and hopefully wont go any higher. :)

Running my E6600 at 1.48v (bios) using a Zalman CNPS9700. 3.33 Ghz clock.
temps reach around 50c when running prime 95.
CPUZ shows 1.44v.
My P5N-T deluxe (RIP) would achieve the same clock with 1.36v CPUZ. Temps were the same however.
I wouldn't be happy at 71c!
I am using MX2 paste using the pea method.

What cooling are you using? If it's the stock cooler 70c for 3.3 sound about right
And below 1.35 for 3.3 is very good.

If your using a tower heatsink - check the IHS is flat (if not lap) if it is flat, reseat with quality TIM

I've got mine running at 3.2 on 1.272 volts and its hitting 58 deg load in orthos. thats using a freezer 7 pro and a lapped cpu . Before i lapped the e6600 i was getting 64 deg which i was worried about, as a quick google led to a lot of people saying 60 deg is the safe freshold for an e6600 ...

This was mine from a few years ago (where does the time go):D, E6600 at 3.6ghz cooled by a freezer 7, load temps of 53-53 from intel TAT, 57-57 from coretemp.

Hi setter,
My current set up is:
E6600 2.4GHz
Inno3D 680i SLI Mobo
2x2GB PC-8500 DDR2 Corsair Dominator + Airflow fan
Zalman CNPS9500 CPU fan
Coolermaster 850w PSU
Single Asus 8800GTX G80
& a Antec P180
Im running windows XP

Can you tell me your settings to get 3.4GHz, I may not be able to get that as I am air only, but I'd like to see 3 at least.
Many thanks in advance

My vid is 1.325 on my E6600, i have an overclock of 3.5Ghz, 500 * 7 and load temps reach what yours do, if not less

Under intel burn test can reach early 80's,

Though this is underwater, with two overclokced 8800 Ultras in the same loop

Im afraid i cant remember any of the settings for that overclock, that was a pc i had a few years ago, i did however find this guide by nvidia to be very useful for overclocking on a 680i mobo.

http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/45121/nforce_680i_sli_overclocking.pdf

I think you should have no problems getting to 3.4ghz on air cooling as thats what i used at the time.:)

Many thanks setter will have a look & go from there.
Still... gutted you can't remember, funds aren't there at the mo to upgrade.... 12month old son eating into my PC pot Grrrrrr
;o)
