Hi guys.
I picked up an E6600 Core 2 Duo a few weeks back and a little concerned about the temps it's running at. I'm using the stock HSF and from cold boot it's running at around ~45 celcius and I've had it peak as high as 62.
I'm using Arctic Silver 5 (applied using the instructions on their web site), tried re-applying the HSF a couple of times (removed the pad the first time and the AS5 from the previous attempts) as I noticed it can be a bit tricky to get into (and stay) in place.
The above temps are with the case (Eclipse 62) open, 2x120mm Akasa Amber fans in it.. tried with/without the exhaust pipe attached to the rear fan. Inside of the case is pretty much clutter free, got all the cables tidied etc so air flow shouldn't be a problem.
Nothings overclocked and I don't have anything that's messing with fan speeds (controllers, q-fan etc..).
I was talking to a mate the other day and he was saying he had a similar problem with his and that he'd put it down to the stock HSF as he bought a new one and now gets around 30c, 37c on load. So... my question is, have any of you had similar experiences - is it likely to be an issue with the stock HSF? If so can anyone recommend a decent (not extortion) replacement for the stock HSF for an E6600 (in the Eclipse 62 case on a P5B Deluxe mobo).
Thanks in advance.
