I'm sure this has probably been posted before, but because the search function is disabled, I can't look for it....sorry all

Basically, got an E6600 happily running at 3ghz on 1.2 vcore set in the bios.

I've got an antec p180 case and have one of the thermaltake 120 extreme cpu coolers on the heatsink. I should also mention that I have lapped the IHS and heatsink.

I've tried and tried again to reapply as5 as thinly as possible and also used the guide (thin line down the middle) as recommended on the AS site.

Temps are idle 45C and load creaping up to near 60C. With all fans blasting this drops to about 42C idle and 55C load.

All seems a bit strange to me because I keep reading that people have idle temps down to low 30s and load in the mid 40s. Am I going mad... or is my E6600 just one of the toasty running ones?

Sounds toasty... what voltages does it show up as in windows?

sorry should have said it's one of those yate loons that runs max at 1200rpm... don't tell me it's the fan because I would hate to have a noisy computer!

I have the exact same cpu with the same heatsink running at 3.0 Ghz as well although I've mounted two fans on the thermaltake 120 in push pull. The heat sink is installed so both fans are vertical and moving air towards the case fan at the back. Idle temps are at about 30ish with max load running TAT's maxing out at 50 after a few minutes running.

Are you sure your case is sited so that there is plenty cool air getting into it? Also check for dust build up in your case - I had highish temps and found that one of the case filters was clogged up with dust.

Hey guys... latest CPU-Z shows the vcore as 1.2v

Unless it is wrong..?

The temps drop by like only 1 or 2c even if I have the side panel of the case off! So i'm quite sure there isn't an issue with it getting enough air. It's a new case too (well 2 weeks old) and there isn't any dust clogging up the filters yet!

I guess I'm just unlucky with a toasty cpu then eh? Was hoping to clock it a bit more, but with temps like that, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving it on 24/7.

I've probably checked that about 20 times now and always check the "footprint" of the as5 to make sure the hsf is in contact with the heatspreader correctly....

it's worth checking again I suppose...

Has anyone else experienced high temps?

How much AS5 are you putting on exactly?
