Another "what should I do" post i'm afraid.

I'm just wondering if I should try and get a secondhand Q6600 (or Q6700) for less than £100 and plop that in my system as an interim upgrade until I'm in a better position to go for the full CPU/Mobo/Ram upgrade to (probably) the i930 when its a little cheaper (I hope) in about 6-9 mths time.

Essentially, will I see a significant increase in system (games - BF2 and BFBC) performance over my OC'd Core DuoE6600?

I'm planning on getting a 5850 (If they're ever in stock at a reasonable price!) or 5770 (possible Xfire) regardless.

Off the top of my head even with the BIOS update I don't think the Infinity 975 handles C2Q too well.

I'd save for a new setup.

I upgraded from an E4400 to a Q6600 and saw a decent performance boost in some games, however if it's just to keep you going for 6-9 months then it's probably indeed not worth the hassle.
