Is it worth doing?

I'm currently on a 6600 oc'd to 3.2, 4gb ddr2 800, and will be buying an 8800GT to replace my GTS today. Just wondering if it's worth moving to a quad - any idea how much of a performance gain I'd get with a smilar OC?

I doubt you would see much difference in gaming, but then again, theres all this talk of games beginning to utilize multiple cores.

Personally I don't think I would upgrade, at least wait for Penryn, as there is a likely chance the Q6600 will then have to go down in price. Or maybe you will be tempted by the Penryn?

Please note ive only just upgraded my P4 560 to the Q6600... Im a bit of a wait and see person :D

Thanks for the response. To be honest it sounds as though waiting for the Penryn is going to be the best bet - it's not like i'm struggling with this setup in anything other than crysis.

Best wait and see, cash burning holes in my pocket.

I've jusy put in a Q6600, fom an E6600 and tbh I haven't noticed much of a difference yet.
but my "E-Penis" has grown a lot!
