Hi, i have just bought a E6600 cpu to upgrade with from a pentium D925, when i have looked at the E6600 cpu on the bottom it does not have pins but gold cicles instead ,now if i remember when i fitted the D925(quite a while ago ) i am sure it had pins on am i missing something here? or is the D925 the same , my mobo is an asrock conroe 865pe and i checked on ther site before i bought to make sure the E6600 would fit any one able to offer help?,,

cheers for that i know i should get a newer mobo but still on agp gpu so plan is to get cpu then when i go the the cash get mobo and pci gpu etc.

775 chips have the pins on the mobo rather than the CPU, makes them harder to damage and means Intel deals with less RMAs from bent pins.

Thanks for both replys panic over! i must be getting confused,i knew someone on here would put my mind at rest cheers..

if you have it overclocked to 3.2 and more i think its pointless to upgrade yet

A Pentium D925 3Ghz is pretty much equivalent to a Pentium 2140 1.6Ghz.
An E6600 at stock 2.4ghz with more cache will be heaps faster! overclock it and it will monster an old Pentium Dual core!!

cheers guys have already checked the bios version and is ok asrock even sent me an update if i need it,looking forward to see the difference,
