I currently have an E6600 sitting @ 3.6 Ghz.

What would be a worthy upgrade from the new 45nm range ? Bearing price in mind, would say the E8400 be big enough step up or should I be looking higher.

If it was an E0 IMO it would be worth it but shop around and try get a WEEK 22 E8600 (all E8600's are EO).

Your basically for a fact going to get 4GHZ on stock or lower voltage (1.2v) and hit 4.5GHZ on mid range voltage.

Yeah really not much point unless you wanna benchmark - if its stable at 3.6 - is still fast enough to push pretty much anything and you wouldn't actually feel the performance difference between it an a 4gig E8x00 in every day useage.

hehe these C2D arn't ageing much really, I've got my 6300 at 3.2 stable since they came out and thats sweet as a nut so I don't really think it's worth upgrading for a little while yet!

Would that still be the case for say an e4500 at 2.93GHz? Its not got a big cache at all and is a more basic chip. Would an upgrade be noticable outside of benchies?
