Hi there,
Its upgrade time for me and i am wondering which route to go down.
I like the look of the i7 setups but its too much for me to swap out so im sticking to the 775tech for now and on that note i have a gigabyte p35c ds3r so i'm going to upgrade the memory as well to the highest supporting DD3, which is 1333fsb so thinking:

I've got the E6600 under a mild overclock, for me means no extra volts and running happily at 3.2ghz. Gaming would probably be the main use of the computer bar general net browsing, i also use it for Macromedia style stuff and could be using some more advance packages in the future.
I'm thinking of an E8500 (as the price jump to E8600 doesn't seem financially viable) and would want to get that to the 4ghz mark, without too much mad overclocking. I do have decent air cooling in a Noctua NH-U12P which keeps my current setup under 45c under max load.
The other option is to go quad core for around the same price mark £150-200, meaning the 9550 and i would be hoping for around 3.5ghz out of that without huge overclocking....what does everyone think? Which route do i go down and are my expectations too high of the chips in OC mode?
Thanks for looking
