Quick question, does the E6600 justify the extra £27 over the E6550?
The only difference I can see is 0.07 faster clock speed.

:)

The e6600 is a 9x multi chip on a 266MHz FSB = 9 x 266 = 2.394GHz

The e6550 is a 7x multi chip on 333MHz FSB = 2.331GHz

You get a higher multiplier as well as a faster chip.

the e6550 has a 1333FSB bus compared to the e6600's 1066FSB, surely the e6550 would be the better choice?

It would appear that the 1333mhz cpu's have a lower headroom for clocking than the current ones. No doubt the lower multipliers don't help either. Thing is, when they are released you can get a 6750 for less than a 6600.

Get the E6750 :)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

Dual Core Technology, 2.66GHz clock speed, 4MB L2 Cache, Intel Speedstep Technology, EM64T 64-Bit Technology, Execute Disable Bit. 3yr Warranty.
Intel Pre-order £124.99
(£146.86)

E6600 using a 333FSB and 8 multiplier = E6750

Depends if overclocking is an option...

Potential to clear this of course ;)
