E6600 wont clock @ 3.0

Shouldn't be running the RAM so slowly, will bottleneck your hole pc.

Is that correct? Well I assume the RAM is running at 666MHz due to it being 2 * FSB if I read things correctly. Should I increase the frequency then, and up to what level?

Edit: Right, it's currently 9 * 333MHz, which gives me 3GHz. RAM multiplier is set to 2, which gives me 1:1 with the FSB.

Should I change it to 8 * 400MHz, giving me 3.2GHz and the RAM back up at 800MHz? Would that be the best option?

SUCH a noob.

Depends what ram u got. If u have ram capable of 800MHz then you need to change the RAM multiplier. Either to like you say 8 * 400MHz, giving you 3.2GHz and the RAM back up at 800MHz, but i perfer change the RAM multiplier to 4:5. It will overclock you ram slightly to 835MHz but i find that it works fine with my setup. You will have to experiment abit.

Actually I've got my E6600 here running at 3.24 (using 9 x 360 cpu:mem = 1:1) and I have not touched the voltage once yet (stock is 1.325v).

Although... I do have an Arctic Freezer Pro 7 cooler and heatsink and four good case fans (2 x 80mm and 2 x 120mm) and air flow in *** case is good.

The stock Intel FHS are NOT that good.

I'd check these first, before upping the voltage.

8-)

you haven't mentioned it so have you tried increasing the voltage to the cpu? i doubt there are many e6600s that would boot at 3.0ghz on stock volts.
