I've finally decided not to get a quad core once the price drops come. Now the big question is E6750 or E6850.

Anyone not going to quad, which of these two are you getting and why?

Hi sorry to hijack your thread but do you know what type of ram does a DS3 need to run those ?

I only have 6400 Ram atm.

pre-ordered the 6750, £50 cheaper & reviews have read on them , they o/c very good. was thinking quad, tbh after 2 yrs, we r all still w8 on most common appz, games ect being able to run dual, never mind w8 ages for quad appz to appear

Those were pretty much my exact thoughts as well.

Plus, I currently have a 2100+ (OC'd to 2300+), 2GB PC3200 and a 6800Ultra and it gives me medium to high settings in all games. I work from home so spend all day in Photoshop with multiple projects open, multiple projects open in Visual Studio and usually connected to 20 or so servers through FTP. This doesn't include all the other programs I use at various times such as Flash.

I mean, if an old AMD can handle all of that without problem, I'm sure the E6750 or E6850 will be more than enough to get me through the next 3 years or so.

I don't think it will work with the ds3 alas:

Only compatible with new Intel P35 and NV680 socket 775 Motherboards (Older 975 boards are not compatible)

From e6850 ocuk description.

Gigabyte website also:

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/...rboard&ProductID=2314&ProductName=GA-965P-DS3

Edit - just noticed *** rev 2.0 and 3.3 boards are compatible with a bios revision.

I'm getting a 6850 in my new build, I'd advise you to do the same, it's £50 and you'll get another 400mhz odd in your overclock, totally worth it.
