I'm thinking of upgrading to an E6850 once they are released in the following weeks to come, but I'm wondering whether it will actually work with my motherboard?

Asus are not really very descriptive, it says it supports 1333 Mhz FSB, but doesn't say whether this will need a BIOS update or not. Does anyone know if the boards actually support 1333 Mhz FSB chips right now?

Don't really want a chip that will have problems on my motherboard. :)

Sorry if this has been covered already.

only the P35 and 680i chipsets will support the new G0 stepping chips apparently.

it *might* work... i dont see why it wouldnt, otherwise stick with a 6600 as pretty much all of them are capable of hitting 333x9 anyways (and plenty more)

cant really know untill someone actually trys to run one on the 650 chipset.

Not all 650i chipsets officially support the new 1333fsb C2D's, but the P5N-E is one that does.

Whether it will support Penryn in 6 months time is uncertain. My guess is that it will do with a BIOS upgrade.
