e6850 + core temp + multi changing

Hi guys

Got my some new gear today including a tuniq tower 120 + E6850 + Gigabyte P35C DS3R

CoreTemp 0.95 is reading the temps at 13-18 degrees.

Surely this is not correct?

EDIT** Also in the latest cpu-z the speed is changing from 2000 to 3000 and multi 6-9 all the time, yet i have disabled "CPU EIST Function" in the bios.

you have to change more that cpu eist
on mine i have to disable EIST C1E thermal control and fan control
try everest 4 for temps if TAT doesn't work
when you mount the heatsink it will be very low for a while
need to let things warm up try orthos for a while
my 6420 idles @25c even below that sometimes dependant on room temp
and thats overclocked to 3.2 ghz with a tuniq.

read a few post's about temps not getting read correctly on the new "go" cpu, it's not just u, probs software needs updating before can read right .

Ok I have disabled "CPU Thermal Monitor 2" & "CPU EIST Function"

Ive also up'd the bus speed to 400 x 9

So now when i turn the pc on and open CPU-Z it says the core speed is 2400 (Bus 400 x 6)

Then whenever I open a prog such as orthos it goes up to 3600 (bus 400 x 9)

So somthing in the bios is changing the multi from 9 - 6 depending on system load. Any ideas?

Also all seems fine at 3.6ghz, idle 20-23, load 30-34 (If coretemp is right ofc)

I would think this is being caused by "Intel Speedstep Technology" being Enabled in your BIOS (power saving), you can simply Disable this if you like. :)

there's usually 3 options look for an integrated thermal throttling device in bios
click on my computer icon and properties if it says 3.6 ghz there then it's
cpu-z reporting it incorrectly

yea if it says 3.6 in properties then it is 3.6 also look in bios.
Are you using cpu-z 1.40 ?

I fitted an E6850 today, and have just about everything Disabled on the CPU Configuration page, and Core Temp 0.95 is reading 21-22C for both cores, so I would think that this version of Core Temp is not calibrated for the new G-0 processors....however Everest gives a decent reading for the overall CPU temp (but not for each core individially), also PC Probe II gives something realistic as well. :)
