Hi all, my rig is as follows.

C2D E6850 with Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Asus P5K premium wifi AP
8GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (4x2GB sticks)
Corsair TX650 PSU
XFX Geforce 8800GTX
WD Green 1TB
Asus Xonar Essence

I have not really tried to OC this up to now but have decided to give it a go.

What would be a good realistic overclock with this setup bearing in mind the memory rating and the 4 sticks being used.

Any advice on bios settings would be helpful also.

Thanks.

it will be cool to stretch that cpu as i have the same speed of ram which is set at 846 on a 1:1 and same cpu and i have a stable 3.8 oc running 24/7 on a freezer pro 7. just watch the temps!

Hi,

I OC'd my 6850 for the first time a couple of weeks ago, it's pretty happy to go up to 3.8, but I wasn't happy pushing my VCore to past more than 1.45 to run it stable. So I'm running it at 3.6 @ 1.375 stable.

I started a thread about it and got quite a lot of useful info in there, hopefully it'll help you out too. Only reason I don't want to push it any further is because I'm a big girl's blouse :p

PS I used coretemp to see the temperatures, very useful bit of software

Thanks a lot guy's, thats very helpful.

I think a better cooler may help things, especially with summer coming.

don't be scared to go further with voltages as the e6850 is a 65nm chip unlike the more recent dual cores which are 45nm and dont require as much voltage! i am running at 1.512v with idle temps of 27c! if you stay under 1.550 it should be fine but watch the temps!

good stuff! and onwards! :D But mind those temps don't go above 70, that's my comfort zone, but everyone has their own personal limits. What are your idle temps looking like?

TK2421, your idle is at 27?! That's mental. And you're using a Freezer 7 Pro. That Antec 1200 case must be creating an Arctic blizzard, or you're sitting in one! Massively jealous.
