watchin scrubs.
I have just installed an E6850 (from a E6320).

Wierd thing is it wont boot into windows at bios defualts ie; 9 x 333, im having to set it to 6 x 333 to be able to get to windows.

At default settings it sometimes hangs at post screen, sometimes does not boot at all, sometimes gets to windows and freezes.

Toughpower 750W
Abit IN9 32Max (1.4 bios, which is latest)
2GB Crucial ballistix
2 x 8800GT

Ive been going round in circles for hours :(

Any advise appreciated.

Tried resetting the CMOS?

Naud

Yes several times.

Ive just googled the problem, and it seems maybe my ram might be at fault, ballistix are rated @ 2.2v and peeps are saying set it to 2.2v manually in bios. (but never had it before with E6320?)

Will try it anyway.

This is getting stranger by the minute, the above did not make any difference, nore did several other settings i tried.

This time ive got back to windows and i have no network devices (only showing the 1394 Connection) ?

Also got this @ post screen:
cmos checksum error-defaults loaded
warning! now system in safe mode
please re-setting cpu or memory frequency in bios
press f1 to continue, del to enter setup

Ive put my E6320 back in and all is well again.....going to re-flash bios i think.

Try turning off speedstep, C1E & EIST in bios, basically its lowering your multi to save power and keep everything nice and cool, once you start a program or game the multi will jump to 9 x .

Like i said though a lot turn it off and then again a lot leave it on, it's down to personal preference.

So it does, thx Gary., I feel a little thick (im sure i knew that) :o

Good luck clocking.
I've got an E6750 that does 3.64ghz at only 1.33V, 3.76V at 1.425V...and that's the highest I've pushed it. These g0 dualies are great clockers!

Do you have 2 x 1GB & 2 x 512mb in dual channel or do you have 3 x 1Gb sticks?

I have 4 x1GB sticks dual channel, i took one out as i was having prolems and was trying to identify what it was...not ram, just did not have it installed when screenys were taken, back in now.

Any way here's where im at now. set all voltages to manual . cpu @ default, ram @2.2. all ive done is up the FSB. Played CS for over hour today rock solid, 50c load. (Sythe Ninja cooler)
