Hi Guys,
DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, 3000 MHz (9 x 333)
I have the above CPU and it is running Idel at 70c. I know these CPUs are meant to run a little higher than other core duos, but 70c is way to high. When i play games it has reached 92c and i switch off the system.
I have had the CPU now since April and it was running at around 45-47c idle and around 50c when processing lots of graphics and being on for long periods. I haven’t overclocked and I’m worried i have a faulty CPU. I don’t know what I’m doing when it comes to overclocking and i let my mate do it. I only play MMO's so no overclocking is needed yet. I have also removed the thermal paste and reapplied more to the heat sink. I have also re-seated the CPU AND HEAT SINK AGAIN.
I do notice that the multiplier says this.
Field Value
Min / Max CPU Multiplier 6x / 9x
Is mine set to 9 as it says this when i run Everest ‘DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, 3000 MHz (9 x 333)’
It has recently started to shut its self down; i think this is Intel’s safety device to say no more before melt down.
If anybody could help, this would be great I would ask my mate but he’s on Holiday. If you require more info let me know how i can provide this.
Cheers
Adam
