Hi, I know this might sound mad, and am happy to be corrected, maybe its just a friday after work and hot and tired but..
I have an E6430 2.13Ghz core2 duo cpu on an asus p5b and rather liked the thought of moving to the E6850 - 3.0Ghz.
Now I been messing with silly numbers to see how much in theory I will benefit from the speed increase. Going from 2.13 to 3 sounds all well and good with a 40.8% increase in clock speed. However the fsb is going from 1066 to 1333. Now there is where its gonna seem mad, so correct away peeps if you increase the fsb on the 2.13 to 1333 you would get an equivalent clock speed of 2.663Ghz ([2.13/1066]*1333). So the real benefit from the 3.0ghz would be only 12.65% ([3-2.663]/2.663*100).
I know there are many many other factors like memory, motherboard,hd, video all that sort of gubbins "but" I just wanted to roughly work out how much faster a 3.0 would be over 2.13, ie to see if its work coughing up for If its 40% then cool but if its 12% then nah.
And I suppose I can just clock the fsb to 1333 instead of 1066? lol
So... any comments, fun or other welcomed
