Im thinking about overclocking my e7400, but just wondering what the stable oc speed is...i would prefer it to be over 3.00GHz +

Its at 2.80Ghz at the moment .. any other details just ask (mobo etc)

:)

It depends on the chip mate. No 2 CPU's are the same, even if they do have the same model number.

Keep upping FSB and voltage until your temps get too high. Just don't exceed the manufacturers voltage limits if you care about its life expectancy.

Yeah that was the original plan bud, just wondering what people have clocked them too.

I think i'll get 3Ghz outta the baby :) ive got the cooling for it, we'll see eh :D thanks for the reply

3 ghz easily on stock volts just bumb the FSB up from 266 to 285/286 and instant 3ghz with no need to change volts, id be highly surprised if it can't do that on stock.

Small overclock but allways best to start small, then atleast u know you can allways go higher.

exacly mate.

Just want know what its stable at and look at going further into it into the future.

Not much worry about lifespan really, ive been looking for a reason to upgrade for a while now.

Quick calculation for 4ghz would be 380fsb with multi @ 10.5, or 400fsb if u use 10 on the multi..

So if the cpu dos'nt have a fsb wall, and your mobo can go that high, i don't see it should'nt hit 4ghz, but again all depends on how much voltage would be needed, allways best to stay under 1.4v.

Quick research on the mobo, states it officially supports 333/1333 fsb so thats no problem, and will supported 400/1600fsb via overclocking.

So when u go over 333fsb you would have to up the north bridge volts abit too.

So your deffinatly looking at an easy mid 3ghz maybe more depending on voltages, and ofcourse all cpu's are diff.

I am currently running my E7400 @ 4GHZ by sending through 1.3625 volts, running the multiplier on X10 and setting the FSB to 400MHZ
My RAM is rated @ 800MHZ, so the RAM strap is 1:1 and it runs fine, temps are low (34 idle-41 under load in Coretemp),
I have ran the Custom PC benchmarks suite, 3dMark06, played Metro with almost all the settings turned right up (I have a HD5850) and it has been fine.
