Got a bit of spare cash and am wondering if I will see much performance difference if change the e7400 for a e8500 on the rig in my sig.
I mainly play Wow, watch movies and do a little bit of video editing/converting to dvd.
I don't feel I need to upgrade my grafs card, because Wow settings are all fine on high and I very rarely see frame rate drop below (or too far below) 60fps.
Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

The extra cache will improve video encoding a fair bit.

What speed are you running the 7400 at, and would you overclock the E8500?

I'm running the 7400 at stock, as will I run the 8500. Still haven't got round to reading up and learning how to overclock properly yet.

will be a massive waste of money mate, been there done that. The 7400 will do 3.5Ghz with ease maybe even 4.0Ghz the 8500 will do a bit more but defo not worth spending £130 if you alredy own the 7400

Hi karansar,

You have all the right components in your rig to overclock so its well worth your while doing your homework on how to tweak that system up rather than paying out more good money for a small speed bump! :)
