well my little brother just brought a 5850 and guess what he did ask me for any advice. and he is left with a horrible bottle neck he has an old e6400 so i said i will oc it for him it turns out that the mother board he has, has an fsb wall of 343 (meaning an oc of 2.74ghz which does help but still has a bottle neck) and as you would expect being just a 14 year old kid he cannot afford a new mobo + cpu. so i was thinking as a birthday present i could buy him an e7600 off of ebay for about £40-50 and oc it to about 3.6-3.8ghz (he has a corsair a50 so cooling isnt a problem) will it be worth it and will it solve his bottlenecking ?

e7600 worth it?

Your money would be better spent on an x4 955 + a £40 motherboard. The performance increase from e6300 to e7600 isn't worth it.

You could probably OC the 6300 to out-perform the 7600 in all honesty
i have tried but i hit an fsb wall at 343 and not matter what i do it wont post anyhigher it is a cheap (g41 chip set)

343x9 is it? (my max multi is 9 on my 8400) that's still just over 3.08GHz, the 7600 is only 3.06 stock... that's TECHNICALLY out-performing it
