E8400 @ 3.6 (Temps)

Just downloaded "Real Temp" and CPU running 42ºC on Core 1 and 47ºC on Core 2.

No idea if this is hot or not. Cooler is Scythe Ninja /w fan, P182 with 3 fans on Med.

8800GTS 512 is doing 64ºC after an couple of hours of CoD2 MP dunno if that's high either.

Idle or load temps? Either way they are fine, esp if load! Check the temps in Core temp and blackbox too

EDIT: Graphics card temp is fine

my 8400 is running at 3.8 ghz at the moment, Real temp reports both cores within 1 degree of each other at 34 - 36 idle and 59 - 61 with 100% load

What cooler you got on that widdyst?

Might have to open up the case and give it a good dust out try get them abit lower and squeeze a bit more out of it.

tuniq tower mate . Antec 900 case with modded side panel with 220mm fan on

Worth remembering that the Antec 900 has better airflow than the 182 so that may have a bearing on temps, as will the voltage of the CPU. Iirc the Tuniq is a better cooler than the Ninja so your temps look about right bud

More dust too hehe, Yeah might purchase a new cooler and some sexy new fans.

Should I be worried that the temps of the 2 cores are out by 5º or so?

ia the temp difference still the same when both cores are just sat there idle'ing ? If so could just be the sensors

Most CPUs have cores with mismatched temperature readings. I had a Xeon earlier in the year that had a 7c difference or something, even after being lapped

With an overclocked E8400, you want to be looking at load temps of around 60-70c I'd say.
