E8400 and 775 socket is kind of wrong

The pins are right but middle bit is kind of worng fitting between the 2,, is that normal?

yeah, like it cant go in wrong cos of the 4 notches,, but the middle bit is the wrong fitting???

Not sure what you mean by the 'middle bit' being wrong - would be great if you could get some pics of the area you're having trouble with?

I'm only asking as i've used various gigabyte, intel, tyan and asrock 775 boards with no problems.

abit ip35, then if you look at another board, the middle of the socket looks different

There are only pins around the outside, the middle of the socket doesn't matter.
