Hey, sorry if this has been posted previously just wanted an up to date opinion. I have an E8400 and thought it would be a shame not to Overclock it a little. My question however, is this: is the stock heat sink and fan adequate or would I need a better cooler? if so my budget is no more than £20 if anybody can recommend something then that would be great. :-)

Cheers Steve, by the way, would you say that any other parts of my computer would create a bottleneck, if I was to Overclock to maybe 3.8 Ghz? The spec is in my sig.

For £20 you can buy

  • Akasa AK-965 CPU Cooler
  • Thermalright LGA775 Bolt-Thru-Kit

Cheers for that Big Wayne, although being quite lazy I'll probably get the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, Can't be bothered with the hassle of taking the motherboard out! :p Thanks guys :) :)

Chong Warrior do you **** this cooler in the ass, I've looked at other threads where you bring it up and defend it to the end. l0l!!!!!

The sunbeam is a fantastic cooler, on a par with the TRUE for quite a bit less and no need to buy a separate fan/s.

Potentially funny, in practice a combination of offensive and retarded. Still, even fools need their fun.

The stock cooler is nasty. Loud and not cold. Replacement highly recommended. The push pins are horrible to use, and not very effective. The bolt through kit is far superior, though if budget is very important four bolts and four nuts are probably cheaper
